Glossary
  • AU - Alternate Universe - putting the characters in a different setting or time. Changing Pairings or sexual Preference off of cannon.
  • Beta - An editor of a beta story
  • Beta Story - An unfinished story; needs proofing, editing, conceptual help; a draft
  • Canon(ical) - True to the original plot or takes place within the plot
  • Crack - A wild nonsensical story that does not go OOC, but bends the personalities and desires of the characters to facilitate humor.
  • Crossover - Adding characters from one continuity to another
  • Drabble - 500 words or less
  • Fusion - Combining two series into 1
  • OOC - Out of Character - breaking personality completely
  • One Shot - Over 500 words, no other chapters
  • Prequel - What came before
  • Recasting - Playing one character in another's role
  • Sequel - The next part of the story after the end
  • Series - Multiple Long Chapters
  • Short - Over 1000 words, may have a second or third chapter
  • Spoiler - Has information that would give away a vital plot point of the source series.
  • Style - This is the method of story telling
  • Type - Terms that denote size of the story
